Maracatu-Nação, or Maracatu de Baque Virado, is a cultural tradition from northeastern Brazil. It combines percussive music, dance, and traditional songs dating back to Brazil’s colonial period and has remained vibrant and alive to this day.

Baque Flores do Porto will demonstrate each of the instruments used in Maracatu de Baque Virado and provide guidance so that festival participants can try their hand at the basic rhythms of this Brazilian cultural tradition.
