An open workshop where participants can get their first taste of the bagpipes

Instructor: Antony Fernandes learned to play the bagpipes in 2006 under Ricardo Coelho and studied traditional music at Sjöviks Folkhögskola in Sweden. He has taught bagpipes in Miranda do Douro and Cabeceiras de Basto. He was a founder and instructor at the Cardo-Amarelo School of Traditional Music, where he teaches the bagpipes, as well as at the Ponte Velha School of Music in Santo Tirso. He is a musician with the Gaiteiros da Ponte Velha and the musical director of the group Cardo-Roxo, which has already released six albums: “Alvorada,” “Vai-te Cuca,” “Volto Já,” “No Monte das Oliveiras,” “Bravio,” and “Além do Rio,” which received support from Antena 2, Antena 1, and RTP 2. He also recorded “Loendro” in partnership with Tozé Bexiga’s Raia project.
