Experimenting with "adufe" rhythms
WORKSHOP
June 13th || 14h30
An open workshop where participants can get their first taste of the adufe and learn some of its traditional rhythms
Instructor: DeRaiz: Liliana Abreu and Rita Só
The adufe is a folk instrument with a strong presence in the Iberian Peninsula, where it goes by various names and comes in many forms and variations, both in terms of its construction and playing styles. Traditionally, and as a rule, the adufe is played alongside singing—mostly by women—making it an iconic instrument in the world of Portuguese folk music.
Goals: Participants will be introduced to Portuguese adufe playing techniques.
Note: Each participant must bring their own adufe. Otherwise, they will be limited to the 25 adufes available.
