For more than 26 years, Rahis Bharti and his DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan have been bringing the vibrant spirit of India’s desert to audiences around the world. Recognized internationally as Cultural Ambassadors of Rajasthan, DHOAD presents a dazzling spectacle of music, dance and acrobatics that captures the soul of one of India’s most fascinating cultural traditions. DHOAD is composed of 8 artists, the leading figures of Rajasthan’s traditional musician and dancer communities. Musicians, singers, dancers and acrobats unite on stage to present a rare living heritage, where centuries-old traditions are passed down from generation to generation through powerful rhythms hypnotic melodies and breathtaking performances.
For over two decades, the ensemble has toured internationally 6 to 7 months every year, performing in 119 countries and appearing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and events, including the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II in London, Paléo Festival Switzerland, Formula 1 Singapore, and exclusive events for Mick Jagger.
Coming from a family with more than seven generations of musicians, Rahis Bharti continues to preserve and share the artistic legacy of Rajasthan with the world. His inspiring journey has been told in the book “Rahis Bharti – DHOAD, Heartbeat of Rajasthan”, written by a renowned French author, highlighting his commitment to safeguarding this cultural heritage while building bridges between cultures.
