Formed in 2014, the duo Alma Menor emerged from a creative partnership that began in 2011 between accordionist Tiago Marques and bagpiper Tiago Morais. From the outset, the project has stood out for its originality and its ongoing exploration of new soundscapes.

Their debut album, Em Tons de Aguarela (2018), introduced their distinctive fusion of bagpipes and accordion and featured collaborations with acclaimed musicians from the traditional Portuguese music scene. In 2025, Alma Menor released Raízes de Xisto, the first chapter of an ambitious trilogy that redefines traditional Portuguese music through meticulous composition and innovative performance. That same year marked a new milestone with the creation of new arrangements of pieces by Carlos Paredes, more original material, and the reinforcement of their reputation as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary Portuguese folk. Two new official videos accompany this release, offering powerful visual interpretations of their evolving sound.
